Pieter Boels

As a graphic artist and designer, Pieter likes to play around with the visual shapes of language. His output is a colourful mix of graphic design, hand lettering and painting, resulting in collectible editions and unique pieces, next to commercial work. Pieter’s work is often text-based and layered – both in meaning and execution – with references to pop culture, modernism and contemporary social issues. Is it always easy to read? No. But what's the use of a creation being legible, when nothing inspires you to notice it in the first place?

Pieter started a one-man-studio in 2012, in his hometown Antwerp. Honing specialised typographic skills, he has had the opportunity to work with local and international clients in a wide variety of industries. In recent years Pieter has shifted his focus to a more outspoken artistic practice, increasingly working on self-initiated projects and collaborations.

Together with his partner he runs a small collectibles store called Rosewood.
